PROFESSION: I am the owner of Engineering Technology Services, We repair & sell Hydraulic spare parts for Bosch Rexroth Pumps , Motors, and valves, to the USA repair markets.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES: Since I was about thirteen years old then got my motorcycle license in 1977. However only got back to riding after a 22 year absences in 2008
WHAT RIDING EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU GOT: +- 20,000 miles /33,00 km in the last two years.
WHAT IS THE FURTHEREST YOU HAVE RIDDEN IN ONE DAY: 800 miles / 1300 kms
WHAT ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL HAVE YOU DONE ACROSS THE SA BORDERS: nothing in South Africa, however I have ridden from New York, NY – to Santa Monica, Ca (+- 4000 MILES). Ridden the complete Natchez Trace (460 miles) , also rode from York Harbor, Maine to Memphis, TN (1530 miles) & lastly a 1230 mile loop Memphis – New Orleans – Memphis.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK ON THE CAPE TO CAIRO 2011: Kenny Hadden who became a newly found friend as we rode the Route 66 in the USA last year talked me into signing up.
I was born in Zimbabwe & always wondered what it would be like to tour the entire continent of Africa – now I get this chance.
WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT THE LIFE CHANGING UNDERTAKING YOU ARE EMBARKING ON: Absolute fear to start with & then excitement to be able to be part of a team that is undertaking this amazing feat.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS: This will be physically & mentally demanding. However to be able shear this & to travel & see Africa like this, can only be a dream in the making which I will cherish for the rest of my life.
WHAT ARE YOU FEARING THE MOST AND WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: We will all break at some time during this trip that’s a given, I just hope we all keep together & make it through to the end as a team & make new friends that we can keep for a life time.
