PROFESSION: I am a Business Consultant and a director and fonder of Blue Platinum Consulting (www.blueplatinum.co.za).  This means that I either diagnose and make recommendations to remedy problems in businesses, or help design and implement new business practices (Strategy, Processes, People and Technology) in businesses that know what they want, or have accepted the recommendations I have made.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES: Rode for a few years as a student, had a long break, then started again 18 months ago.

WHAT RIDING EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU GOT: Commuting, dirt road riding, some courses and out-ride with Cytech, track time at Swartkops with BMW training academy.

WHAT IS THE FURTHEREST YOU HAVE RIDDEN IN ONE DAY: About 200km’s to/from Sun City

WHAT ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL HAVE YOU DONE ACROSS THE SA BORDERS: None only 4×4’s

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK ON THE CAPE TO CAIRO 2011: Thrill of the adventure! Something on my bucket list.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT THE LIFE CHANGING UNDERTAKING YOU ARE EMBARKING ON: Looking forward to it, and apprehensive.

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS: Long, hot, dusty days in the saddle. Sore muscles. Few spills. The odd soft hotel bed in-between camping. Sharing stories around the camp fires. Meeting new and interesting people, and sites, smells and sounds. Delays at border posts.Punctures.Road-side repairs. My iPod.

WHAT ARE YOU FEARING THE MOST AND WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: Biggest fear: Injuring myself and not completing the trip.Expecting: See above.
