AGE: 46

MARITAL STATUS: will be married by then (April). This will be my honeymoon

PROFESSION: Director/owner of an IT business. No job right now

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES: On and off since I was around 12

WHAT RIDING EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU GOT: Had four different bikes, done two week long trips and loads of shorter ones. Use the bike daily at the moment.

WHAT IS THE FURTHEST YOU HAVE RIDDEN IN ONE DAY: Not sure distance wise – but two 11 hour days in a row followed by ten hours is the hardest I have ridden.

WHAT ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL HAVE YOU DONE ACROSS THE SA BORDERS: Trip up through Mozambique the length of Kruger just inside the Mozambique border and a return trip to Vic Falls and back through Bots

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK ON THE CAPE TO CAIRO 2011: Always been on my to do list and selling my business gave me the time to do it.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT THE LIFE CHANGING UNDERTAKING YOU ARE EMBARKING ON: Looking forward to it immensely. I have done a lot of trips before and enjoy the pressure, activity, cameraderie and time to reflect. Getting away like this is the most cathartic thing you can do and should be compulsory every three or four years.

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS: A good hard six weeks. Would not be any point in doing it if it was too easy.

WHAT ARE YOU FEARING THE MOST AND WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: Fearing not finishing. Not looking forward to being away from my family. Expect a great adventure and time to reflect to push ‘reset’ on my personal values and goals, get things in the right perspective and worry less about material things.
