HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES: 35 Years

WHAT RIDING EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU GOT: I have been riding motorcycles since my school days. In 35 years I have never been without a bike or two. I did motocross a couple years back for 5 years. For the last 20 years I only did long distance trips, anything from 1000-5000km. I really enjoy the long rides.

WHAT IS THE FURTHEST YOU HAVE RIDDEN IN ONE DAY: I did a couple of 1000 km’s days in the saddle and one 1450km. I like to do between 450 -600km per day on my tours.

WHAT ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL HAVE YOU DONE ACROSS THE SA BORDERS: I have travelled the following countries outside South Africa: Zimbabwe x17 times, Mozambique x 2, Botswana, Caprivi, Lesotho, Swaziland and 9 states in America.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK ON THE CAPE TO CAIRO 2011: I always wanted to take on a big trip and the plan was to go on a trip around the world when I am 50. So Ray told me about the Cape to Cairo trip and I booked the trip.

WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT THE LIFE CHANGING UNDERTAKING YOU ARE EMBARKING ON: I really look forward to just getting away from the hustle and bustle of life for a while. Can’t wait to  meet the different types of people and cultures. Also the scenery along the way is going to be special. I will  take each day as it comes and enjoy every moment of it.

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS: Only to enjoy every minute of the trip in the good times and the bad times.

WHAT ARE YOU FEARING THE MOST AND WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: The current situation in Africa is not very stable so I really hope we can go all the way
