PROFESSION: I started Splashworks 16 years ago. We are wholesale distributors of plumbing and sanitaryware. I have been MD since then. I am moving to Stellenbosch in DEC to open a factory to manufacture solar water heaters. i will replace myself with a new MD at SW.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES: I rode varsity and there after and then did not ride for 25 years. Riding again for the last year or so.
WHAT RIDING EXPERIENCE HAVE YOU GOT: Off road- limited, a course with Cytech out on your farm venue, also various out-rides with friends. On road sufficient for most conditions.
WHAT IS THE FURTHEREST YOU HAVE RIDDEN IN ONE DAY: about 500- 600km
WHAT ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE TRAVEL HAVE YOU DONE ACROSS THE SA BORDERS: Nil
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK ON THE CAPE TO CAIRO 2011: Keen to do it. I have done it in a 4×4 with my family 5 years ago
WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT TEH LIFE CHANGING UNDERTAKING YOU ARE EMBARKING ON:Positive and excited with a level of trepidation. I am looking forward to leaping out of my comfort zone for a while.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS: Challenging riding, great life experiences, fun and learning- and a stiff and tired body. Looking forward to becoming a better rider under a wider range of conditions.
wHAT ARE YOU FEARING THE MOST AND WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING FROM THIS EXPERIENCE: Fear- not much. Hope my sand inexperience does not hold us up.
